The Health Protection Agency primarily covers England, although for queries on radiation the HPA covers the whole of the UK, and for chemicals the HPA covers England and Wales.

For urgent enquiries about radiation, chemicals, infectious diseases and poisons, specialist advice can be obtained from the public health emergency contact page, which also has advice about who to contact at the Emergency Preparedness and Response Division in the event of an emergency where accidental or deliberate release or exposure is suspected.

• Scotland – please contact Health Protection Scotland,
• Wales – please contact Public Health Wales 
• Northern Ireland – please contact the Northern Ireland Department of Health Social Services and Public Safety 
• Non-UK/international enquiries - please contact your country's relevant public health department 

Healthcare professionals working in England who have a non-urgent scientific or technical enquiry about infectious diseases or infection prevention should complete the general enquiries contact form  where your enquiry will be forwarded onto the relevant department. Please note it can take up to three working days to respond to enquiries of this nature.
