The Health Protection Agency recognises that good stakeholder relationships are critical to the success of the Agency. These relationships do not just happen but require careful management and much work has been invested in the development of these.
The Agency has a wide variety of stakeholders ranging from Government Departments, international organisations and the public, all of which require different approaches to their management. Many of these relationships are quite mature and have been successfully built up over a number of years. However occasionally there is an opportunity to establish a new relationship for example recently with the Healthcare Commission and the European Centre for Communicable Diseases in Stockholm.
Relationships can be at the local, regional, Centre or corporate level, and as such require different management. Key corporate level relationships make a critical contribution to the success of the Agency and so have nominated leads to manage these. Many local and regional level relationships are managed informally but there can also be formal agreements with organisations such as the NHS relating to the provision of health protection at a local level.
