Corporate Functions

The four HPA Centres are supported by four divisions providing corporate services, which operate across all Centres.

Communications

The Communications Division supports and protects the Agency's reputation as a trusted, reliable and independent source of expert health protection advice for the public, the media and professionals in the fields of health and science.

Press office teams provide a nationwide round-the clock service to the Agency, its stakeholders and the media, ensuring that advice and information is timely, authoritative, consistent, accurate and clear.

Specialists in publications, design, branding, stakeholder engagement, public involvement and internal communications provide comprehensive support for the Agency's work at all levels, from local and regional to national and international.

Finance and Resources

The Finance and Resources Division comprises the departments of Finance, Estates and Facilities, Information Systems, Internal Audit, Legal, Health and Safety, Security, Quality and Sustainability, Corporate Governance, Board Secretariat and Business Planning.

The Division's aim is to provide the Agency with efficient, effective and economic financial and resource management services to enable the Agency to achieve its strategic goals.

The staff and the systems operated by the Division are pivotal to the Agency's achievement of real health gains, providing strong financial management, reliable and robust information technology and systems and an appropriate physical and governance environment.

Human Resources

The Human Resources Division provides operational support for all parts of the Agency.

During the past year, the Division has started the implementation of Agenda for Change, involving the harmonisation of terms and conditions across the whole Agency. The Division has also introduced a new Performance Appraisal and Development Programme, planned and implemented a Workforce Development strategy, and introduced new medical consultants' contracts, in full consultation with all interested parties.
