Chemical Surveillance Reports

The Centre for Radiation, Chemical and Environmental Hazards, formerly the Chemical Hazards and Poisons Division (CHaPD) produces reports on the national chemical incidents surveillance service for England and Wales.

The reports provide information on the distribution and characteristics of chemical incidents recorded in the chemical incidents surveillance system, including temporal and geographical trends, types of incidents, chemical released and public health implications in terms of exposure, morbidity and mortality.

The data contribute to the WHO global surveillance system for chemical incidents of public health significance. The main function of the global database is to describe the public health consequences arising from acute incidents and provide a mechanism for capacity strengthening.  Further information can be found using this link:

This information is provided as part of the Agency's commitment to protecting the public against chemical and environmental hazards, as outlined in its corporate goals.
