Mortality

Many infections and other health hazards can have serious consequences, including death, which may be potentially preventable.

Deaths occurring in England and Wales are registered with the Office for National Statistics. Mortality data forms a critical component for research and surveillance activities undertaken by the Health Protection Agency.
