The Heath Protection Agency offers public health and epidemiology training for health protection professionals and other public health, healthcare and environmental health professionals (Primary Care Trusts, NHS Trusts, local authorities, animal health academic institutions etc). Whether you want to develop or refresh you skills the HPA can help you achieve your goals

We deliver a range of training courses and events as well as ad-hoc courses across a range of specialist areas including Public Health and Epidemiology; Communicable disease surveillance; Specialist Microbiology; Outbreak Control and management and statistics.

Examples of local, national and international conferences, courses and other educational initiatives include:

  • Courses and workshops on surveillance, epidemiology, statistics, bioinformatics, outbreak management, infection control, and HPA geographic information systems (HPAGIS);
  • Courses and conferences on health protection key topic areas, for example the HPA annual and 5 nations conferences, ECDC training courses, pandemic flu, legionella, immunisation, and chemical hazards health risk assessment;
  • Postgraduate training in public health and the Field Epidemiology Training Programme;
  • Teaching the teacher courses and supervisor updates.

We also provide customised training courses that can be bespoked to your needs and delivered at your premises, at our training facilities or at another venue of your choice. Each programme is created to meet the specific audience needs and where possible, focused practical or group exercises are included.
